[there's a sketch of the exterior of the hotel here, spread across two pages. a banner has been added to the space above the doors that reads ABANDON ALL HOPE, YE WHO ENTER HERE in comical handwriting. it doesn't exist in real life; it felt appropriate, however]

[there are a series of quick sketches from around the hotel here. the front desk and the demon behind it, the bar, the gift shop -- all places Nate stuck his nose in, when he first arrived. on the opposite page, there's tape where something had been attached, but whatever it is, it's gone now]

[the next page has a drawing of a man with a lion's head on it. the start of a sigil underneath it has been hastily scribbled out]

[there are several doodles of the demons and sinners who have been acting as professors during Barbas's high school AU here, none of them flattering. in between the sketches are statements like I AM TOTALLY PAYING ATTENTION or LOOK AT ALL THE NOTES I'M TAKING. more seriously, TURNING INTO DEMONS? has been written on the page and then scratched out, as Nate doesn't want to think about that]

[on the opposite page, despite that, a handout from Biology and Demonic Changes has been hastily taped in. there may be blood on it, his own, from where Tim punished him on behalf of their teachers]

[there's a full page spread of the Cabeswater Forest here. tucked away in one corner, away from the meat of the drawing, is another -- a close up of one of the trees and the ooze dripping off of them]

[he didn't go into the forest, but in hindsight, he's not sure that would have been a good idea]

[on the first page, there are two lists written out, side by side. they read as follows:

ABADON = SLOTH
MAMMON = GREED

ASMODEUS = LUST

[on the opposite page is a rubbing of the gold coin he arrived with, before it was donated to Lilith to help get the spell to contact Mammon off the ground. beside it, it reads DEVIL BETTER HAVE MY MONEY with an arrow drawn to the rubbing. there's also a few quick bust pose sketches of Lilith, one of them near the lower corner ruined, rust-red with blood]

[there are several sketches across both pages here, all of them thing he's seen wandering around Mammon's Island. the castle is the biggest, most prominent drawing, but there are sketches of the gardens, the beach and a couple of the storefronts, too]

[underneath it all is the impression of writing, probably from the pages that came before and were torn out. if anyone were to get their hands on the journal and have time to study it, they might be able to tell that the torn out pages contained stream of consciousness writing on Nate's feelings about his death in the fight against Barbas. it's harder to tell whether he tore those pages out before or after he traded that memory to a demon in exchange for Sir Francis Drake's ring]

[a map of Mammon's Island has been drawn here, detailing points of interest as he's found them, poking around. there's no key, but there really doesn't need to be -- it's all pretty straightforward. there is, however, a compass rose drawn in the corner, with a small question mark drawn beside the N at the top. it was really hard to decide which direction was north, when there were no stars to guide him. he had to make a best guess, based on where the moss on the trees was growing]

[on one page, there are several sketches of Caroline Salvatore, like candid photographs, done after they confessed their feelings to each other]

[on the opposite page, things are jarringly much more grim, a sketch of a lizardman featuring on this page, with a few close ups of various features ringing it. a slitted eye. a clawed hand. a scale pattern. whether or not these are all accurate, however, he couldn't say. the lizardman was him, as he got grabbed by the carnies later, while they were looking for Caroline's daughters, and it's all kind of a blur. a big, stupid horrifying blur]

[there's a comical drawing of a ridiculously large spider here. there's an arrow pointing at it, along with commentary like WHY?? and SPIDERS ... WHY'D IT HAVE TO BE SPIDERS? on the other page and more seriously, there's what appears to be a combination to-do-slash-shopping list to keep track of things he needed to address, helping rebuild the hotel and the surrounding areas]

[on the first page, there are several more sketches of Caroline, which slowly bleed into sketches of Elena as they continue on down it. he's lost them both, at this point, and he's not handling it well. he remembers, now, why he more or less swore of anything real, back home, before Elena]

[the opposite page has the label from the bottle of bourbon James brought him, after, taped into it. it was either that or leave this page blank]

[there's a short list of people Nathan's noticed missing, recently -- not gone, just missing. some of them have been crossed out, thankfully. a few, like Zelda Schiff, remain. she did disappear more permanently]

[on the opposite page is a few words, describing the plant Lucifer and Lilith sent them all to the campgrounds to get, to stop the zombie epidemic, as well as a sketch of what he thought it might look like, based on that description. the world may never know if he got it right, however -- he wasn't successful, on his end, and even if some of his fellow sinners were, he never did get to see the plant in person]

[on the second and bleeding into the first, is a hastily drawn map of the area surrounding the hotel. the labeling is not exclusively done in Nathan's handwriting -- someone else clearly helped put this together -- and it's been marked up pretty extensively, after the fact. there are arrows marking a path, Xs drawn over parts of the wall that surrounds the community, whole new landmarks that don't exist in reality added, and so on and so forth. it looks like Nathan and his partner were trying to get their bearings and find a way out. it also look like they weren't particularly successful]
